For more than 25 years, Scott has been on the leading edge of technology, consulting and working in product development and process re-engineering for the retail, financial, credit, utility, telecommunications, healthcare and aviation industries. As a founding member and principal of VPL, Scott is focused on business strategy, operations, data analytics, IT, planning and customer experience, but admits his favorite part of the job is hiring the best, brightest, and most forward-thinking players in the industry. Citing VPL’s ability to move quickly to customize solutions to a customer’s specific needs, as well as nimbly take corrective action when things don’t go as planned, Scott delights in the VPL team’s ability to overcome barriers, engage customers, and create new ideas that are advancing the industry.

Prior to starting VPL with business partner Eric McGlade, Scott was one of the founding members of HLS MedFreight—the first freight management company to specialize in healthcare. Using his experience with HLS, he has helped VPL build the next generation of technology designed to address and improve upon the gaps and challenges of the old model. He holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems and an MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.

Scott and his wife live in Lewis Center, Ohio. A talented creative, Scott can often be found playing his guitar, singing, painting, or taking photographs, but he most loves (and spends most of his time) supporting his musician children as they turn their passion into careers.

Almost the entirety of Rob’s career has been spent in the technology sector with the past decade having been focused specifically on the healthcare supply chain. That makes him a perfect leader for VPL as we sharpen our focus on developing leading-edge technology to reinvent freight management. As VPL’s President, Rob helps VPL to grow and scale, overseeing all day-to-day operations and strategically driving the company forward.

Before coming to VPL, Rob was the founding General Manager of a $200 million, third-party logistics business unit of a Fortune 20 healthcare distribution & services company. Prior to that he worked with Eric McGlade and Scott Crow at HLS MedFreight as VP of Finance & Administration. There he led the efforts in scaling internal operations to handle the company’s explosive growth and directed the processes leading to the strategic sale of the company. Previously, Rob spent over 20 years in Executive and Financial roles in both venture capital backed and publicly traded technology companies. A facility for turnaround and growth has been one of the hallmarks of Rob’s career and he feels incredibly fortunate to have worked for, and with, great people along the way. An alumnus of the University of Notre Dame, Rob graduated with a BBA in Finance.

Rob spends his off hours with his high school sweetheart, who is also his wife (their wedding anniversary is even the anniversary of their first date). With three grown children working and studying in New Jersey, Washington DC, and Philadelphia, they spend time traveling East to visit the kids. When they’re home in Westerville, they enjoy dining out with friends, playing golf (their eldest works for the USGA) and hanging out with their dogs, Corby the Corgi and Teddy the Bernese Mountain Dog.

Jim Tighe has a unique background in both finance and software, as well as experience with companies in crucial growth stages, which makes him the ideal person to lead VPL’s Finance team. As CFO, Jim is responsible for managing everything from financial reporting and accounting to human resources and the company’s banking and insurance relationships. A collaborative leader, he’s committed to working with everyone in the company to make sure that, together, they are aware of and understand the key operational and financial drivers for the business.

Prior to coming to VPL, Jim served as CFO for Pennant, and as CFO and VP of Administrative Services for EWI, where he was named Columbus Business First CFO of the Year in 2012. Jim also served as Director-Global Finance for Sterling Commerce, Inc. and Corporate Controller for Pathlore Software Corp., where he helped the company migrate from traditional software to a SaaS system.

Jim and his wife have four children, and when he’s not working he spends a lot of time attending cross country meets and school events. He proclaims his love for all sports, but hockey holds a special place in his heart; he started playing rec hockey in college and has been playing ever since. In fact, he and his two sons put together a team on which they play with a few other friends and their sons. The only member of Jim’s family not active in hockey is his King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Rudy, who doesn’t play sports but will happily lie on the couch and watch them on TV.

With both eyes firmly on the goal of attaining and keeping customers, Don leads the VPL Account Management team and is responsible for customer success. He specializes in designing and delivering custom program solutions as well as developing new services and strategies that provide continuous incremental value to VPL customers.

A graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Psychology, Don was one of the founding members of HLS MedFreight, where he assembled, grew and directed a team of account management and operations professionals who were focused on developing and managing vendor relationships. While directing strategies and developing new methods of outreach to the healthcare community, he established more than 700 strategic vendor relationships for the company. He also designed and implemented an industry-first, automated vendor-compliance process that grew aggregated vendor program compliance from 68% to 95% in less than six months. When HLS was acquired by Cardinal Health, Don continued to create innovative business solutions for Cardinal before bringing his special brand of customer commitment to VPL.

An urban dweller with diverse interests, Don lives in downtown Columbus where he loves to cook elaborate meals (which he sometimes loses interest in eating after the creating part is done), and contemplate the many virtues of a really good Scotch.

As VPL’s VP of Operations, Jason spends his days planning, directing and executing an operational vision that ensures customers are being well served in the present while laying the groundwork for VPL’s future growth. Executing process improvements, ensuring current processes drive both volume and savings, developing new customer ramp activities, and reducing costs while increasing production are just a few of the things he does to keep VPL at the forefront of growth and efficiency. As the third person to join VPL, Jason assembled the Supplier Relations and Billing teams, and established lean process improvement practices that delivered a 75% improvement in customer invoicing processes. He also launched a capability system that allows customers to save an estimated 20% on less-than-truckload shipments.

Jason started his inbound freight management career as a member of the sales and marketing team for HLS MedFreight, and prior to transitioning to the public sector he served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force (USAF). There he led a 20-member team and managed a $206M structural modification program responsible for extending the longevity of customer operations an additional 16 years—a solution that saved the USAF $687.5M. He holds both a B.S. in Marketing and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Dayton and an MBA with concentrations in Operations Strategy and Entrepreneurship from The Ohio State University.

Jason and his wife Jennifer live in New Albany, Ohio with their two young children, Jack and Clara Mae, and their Wheaton Terrier, Piper. He’s an avid philanthropist both in his community and the wider world, and for fun loves to “date” his wife, brew beer, play with his camera, and cheer on the OSU Buckeyes.
